“The Best Decision I’ve Made”
So different from any other approach
learned how to tune in to my body
life-changing
community that supports each other
Just recently, we received an email from one of our clients, Danna Niedzwiecki Lockwood, that she has graciously agreed to share as a blog post. We are so grateful to have the opportunity to work with Danna. She is making great strides, feeling so much better and inspiring others in their journey toward Balance in Mind, Body and Heart! Enough from me, here is Danna’s own first hand experience after three months with Three Point Balance.
“I was overweight, sedentary, and very much out of shape. I was in a rut mentally and physically. I wanted to make a change but I didn’t know howand I also didn’t have the energy to find out how. Lucky for me, my former coach, Mike Simmons, reached out to me and told me that he thought Three Point Balance would be a good fit for me.
Mike explained the premise behind Three Point Balance and it sounded intriguing to me. So I mentioned it to my husband and before I could finish explaining what Mike had told me, my husband said “Do it.” So I did.
Becoming a Three Point Balance client was the best decision I’ve made.
I’m currently three months in and I’ve noticed a dramatic difference in my life and I’m not overstating things.
I feel stronger and more physically fit.
More importantly, I can’t be sedentary. My body won’t let me. Yes, I know that sounds odd, but one aspect of Three Point Balance that makes it so different from any other approach to wellness is the mind-body portion. I had never paid much attention tomind-body connections, but through working with mind-body coach, Kim, I have learned how to tune in to my body and to understand that it is constantly telling me what it wants and needs. Sound a little “out there?” Truly, it’s not. The benefits I’ve experienced from learning to make mind-body connections are life-changing. Those life-changing benefits include how I approach food/nutrition and fitness/movement.
Nutrition coach Laura doesn’t give out a prescribed “meal plan, nor does she label foods as “good” or “bad.” What she does do is work with each person to develop that person’s “food framework.” She has worked with me to develop an approach to eating that encompasses my goals, my values, my food budget, my cooking ability, etc. This is truly not a cookie-cutter approach to nutrition. And making mind-body connections hashelped me deal with cravings and decide what foods make me feel the best versus what foods might taste good but make me feel lethargic, bloated, or cause my blood sugar to spike.
Nutrition and mind-body connections both tie into the fitness component of Three Point Balance. I used to dread exercising. The first month of working with fitness coach Mike I made myself do the workouts, but I didn’t enjoy them. Though Mike spent time working with me to make an individualized plan based on my fitness goals, I still felt the workouts were a chore. So I talked to all three coaches about my feelings and they helped me learn to approach my workouts with grace and gratitude.
I now look forward to my workouts and have increased the number of days I exercise.
These changes didn’t happen overnight. They have taken time and work. I’ve had individual meetings with each coach where we explore what I want and need to focus on at that moment in time and then I use what I’ve learned to make changes.
In addition to individual sessions, Three Point Balance fosters a community by having monthly meetings, in which all clients and all three coaches get together, and weekly group workouts. I’ve found these group meetings to be so helpful because though we’re all in various parts of the country, we’ve become a community that supports each other.
I have zero regrets in becoming a Three Point Balance client and I know that, unlike other restrictive “diets” and “workout regimens,” this wholistic approach to health and wellness will be easy to sustain because it’s specifically designed for me. I am excited to see what the next 9 months brings!”
